No matter how funky you are, if Christ has truly begun to live in your heart; even with your jeans and neck chains, you can never be mistaken for the world. As you sit in the party and roll with the guys …inside of you, you will feel the difference between yourself and clubbers and party goers

…a difference like a wide ocean.

You will also feel the acute painful desire to share what you have become, to baptise them in that ocean. It is called compassion. You can wear all the shredded jeans and even put a stud on one ear, but you will know that you can never be like them anymore. You will feel that something stands between them and you. It’s called the Cross.

The precious blood of Jesus.

Something bubbling on the inside that all the surrounding music and activity cannot drown. Or Someone. Constraining love. Restraining grace. Imperturbable peace. Incontrovertible wisdom. Convicting righteousness.

The Holy Ghost.

Even they will realise that something is off about you. You are there, and may look like them, but still you cannot hide. For no one lights a candle and puts it under a bushel. And that is salvation, the eternal lighting of your inner lamp. Christ in you is an illuminated destiny, a lighthouse of the most high and the heavenly, a beacon in the darkness which cannot be hidden, and so therefore, neither can you. Your essence has been forever changed.

You are now a stranger in this world.

If this is not your experience; if you feel at home where you once belonged before you met Jesus, so that church things are an addition, a new activity so that you rock the club on Friday night and rock the service on Sunday morning. Then your rocking of this age is simply evidence that you are not standing on the Rock of Ages

That will be a ‘tokunbo’ salvation.
