It’s no longer news that many-a-believer struggles with sin and a very busy work schedule, which affects their spiritual life and cause them to crawl rather than soar spiritually. Some are very distracted by things that won’t make them consistent in their walk with God. Are you among these persons? Have you been struggling with praying, because of your business engagements? Do you desire a system whereby you can excel in prayer and your secular business regularly? Or are you struggling with breaking out from an entangling sin?

1. BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF: One thing you should know is that sin thrives in secrecy, and the devil hates to be exposed, he hates it a lot. This is why on deliverance grounds, demons cry out when they’re about to be exposed. They hate light, and they hate it when their evil works are brought to light.

Hence, you must open up; flush out all excuses from your heart. Admit you have been wrong and genuinely repent of it.

2) GIVE PRIORITY TO GOD: The foremost thing that aids your spiritual life is the priority you give to God. This priority is born out of love for Him; and your love for God does not exist in a vacuum but from the revelation of God’s love for you.

What you have with God is a relationship, and this relationship must be mutual. God loves you and the more you understand how much He loves you, the more you are pleasantly compelled to love Him more.

The evidence that you love someone is that you give Him priority. You cannot claim to love me, and not make me your priority; and you cannot claim I’m your foremost priority without giving me special attention over other things.

God must be prioritized and He must be prioritized continuously.

You must learn to consciously prioritize God every day, every time and every where.
This is because there are many things that come up every day, in battle for your soul and focus.

Now, that ‘Prioritizing’ creates what we call ‘God Consciousness’.

 
God-consciousness is having a posture where your thinking faculty has God at its centre., i.e. You always have God in your mind.
(God Consciousness is achieved and further built by meditating on God)

By learning to consciously and continually prioritize God, you’ll create a God consciousness in you that will make you feel so bad and unfulfilled per time when you discover you’ve not or you’re not engaging God. I hope this is being clear to you.

God consciousness affects your actions, decisions and even your knowledge.

It is what makes you a fool for Christ;

It creates a constant stream of hunger for God

You just want to talk to Him

You just want to be with Him

Your hunger is stirred

Nothing makes sense to you but Jesus

This is how the journey to absolute desire for God begins.

It goes beyond getting charged up in prayers, and then it dies down again after a little while

A lot of persons pray and that their flesh (carnal nature); the flesh doesn’t die that way. Just expose yourself to God and it will die on its own.

God CONSCIOUSNESS mortifies your flesh and strengthens your spirit from within.

It weakens the grips of the flesh and mortifies it.

GOD-CONSCIOUSNESS tunes your soul to always be in harmony with the desires of God. You start finding it difficult to do anything that will make Him feel displeased.

Any thought that will displease Him won’t survive in your heart, because the light from God-consciousness within you will burn it out.

At this point, God finds pleasure in all we do. God consciousness makes us reverence God.
Without that consciousness strongly developed in you, falling into sin will be a regular occurrence in your life.

Romans 1:28-32: “And even as they did not like to RETAIN GOD IN THEIR KNOWLEDGE, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers….”

Once God is not retained in your knowledge, and then you don’t make the extra conscious effort of saying No and disciplining yourself, you won’t only be distracted, you’ll wallow in sin, and devour it like bread.

God Consciousness births hunger in you, and this hunger will drive you to wanna fellowship with Him. Prayers no longer become a burden. You just want to stay in His presence and pour out your love on Him.

(That is why if you see prayer as an avenue to just come ask God for things alone, you won’t enjoy communion with God).

Overtime, that hunger begins to take a new shift. And at that point God finds you ‘trustworthy’ and begins to see that He has won your heart so He gives you burdens.

It is burdens that make people stay 12 hours in the place of prayer and it’s like they’re just starting.

Hunger can keep you there for 3 hours, but burdens can keep you there for 30 hours.

If hunger keeps you there for 30 hours (when your hunger becomes that powerful) burdens can keep you there for 3 months

I’m not trying to be hyperbolic, these are things we’ve seen happen and even more.

I’m trying to give you something deeper in prayer.

This is the secret to burning for God.

It makes you a mystery to men; Even your dreams cannot be normal again.

Burdens will make you pray till you find yourself rolling in a mud.

You become a light bearer; through you others can see the light into the Kingdom, even as a strong believer, not necessarily a pastor or something

This is where the secret lies

It may look like a whole lot of work when you wanna follow laws, but you see all these here are relational procedures.

If you can follow this, you’ll ever be glad that you did.

RETAIN GOD IN YOUR THOUGHTS… BE GOD CONSCIOUS.
